Discontinuation of Jeppesen VFR+GPS charts and Chart of Aerodromes

At Jeppesen we understand and share your passion for VFR flying. It is this shared passion that led us to work with pilots all over Europe and explore new ways to make VFR flight planning faster and more efficient, while also delivering all the airborne navigation information you need–when you need it.

The result is our highly acclaimed Mobile FliteDeck VFR app, which was introduced at AERO Friedrichshafen. This revolutionary product creates a new and innovative standard by being the first to provide truly data-driven depiction of all information relevant to the individual phases of flight–from planning to enroute to approach to taxiing - instead of a collection of pre-composed images. All contained in a simple and utmost intuitive workflow tablet interface.

This new technology is exciting and highlights a milestone in navigation solutions. Mobile FliteDeck VFR has been well received, with great reviews from the GA press and a lot of interest from the pilot community. The high number of downloads in a short period of time, as well as the passionate feedback, supports our strategy to continue building out the Mobile FliteDeck VFR features, benefits and coverage areas.

Consistent with the rapid transition to electronic solutions and tablet devices, Jeppesen has experienced decreased demand for VFR+GPS paper charts. And as with every organization we have to continually adjust our resources, priorities and business plans to better meet the evolving needs of our customers. This led to the need to reposition our resources and to make the difficult decision to discontinue the European VFR+GPS charts by the end of 2013. This action will allow us to increasingly support further development of Mobile FliteDeck VFR.
