Paper to Electronic Transition

Jeppesen provides a solid "Paper Bridge" to the electronic future.  This bridge for mission-critical navigation charts is vital to ensure uninterrupted airline operations.  From the first day of electronic transition, paper is available with full standard and tailored coverage as "pilot issued" or "ship sets."  As pilots enter the flight deck of an Electronic Flight Bag (EFB)-enabled aircraft, with a minimal amount of EFB software CBT training (all previous chart training remains valid), they are able to seamlessly use the electronic versions of charts having content and format familiar to them.  The paper bridge also supports aircraft-issued paper chart bundles that can be stored with shrink-wrap as backup.  Unbroken shrink-wrap packages provide the necessary evidence to the authorities that the electronic versions were used with integrity and reliability during the initial operational viability phase of the EFB system (normally a six-month period as defined in the EFB Advisory Circular).  This provides a low-risk approach for rapid EFB adoption, acceptance, and elimination of paper.

Jeppesen provides expertise in both the management of knowledge and the technology that creates secure access to critical navigation data, documents, and training for airline customers.  As part of our product implementation, we work jointly with the customer to identify and assess information and savings that has the greatest financial benefit to the customer.  We then configure the EFB and Data Distribution Management (DDM) model system to create, capture, and disseminate information to the right people, at the right time.  As the needs of our customers grow, we can easily scale to meet those needs.
