Jeppesen, a unit of Boeing Flight Services, and the IRKUT Corporation of Russia, a part of JSC United Aircraft Corporation, recently agreed to a five-year master service agreement to provide Jeppesen electronic flight bag (EFB), flight planning, charting, navigation data and mobile delivery solutions for the development of IRKUT Corporation MC-21 passenger aircraft, expected for entry into air service in 2017.   

Jeppesen’s industry-leading services included in the new service agreement provide IRKUT Corporation with an integrated approach for implementing critical flight information delivery from a single resource during the test and evaluation phase of MC-21 aircraft development.  The Jeppesen solution suite helps operators to streamline operations through digital delivery of flight information and the elimination of paper-based materials.      

“Cooperation with Jeppesen will allow us to better evaluate the effectiveness of the aircraft during the test and evaluation phase of MC-21 aircraft development, fuel efficiency primarily,” said Alexy Fedorov, president of the IRKUT Corporation. “We believe that Jeppesen’s solution suite will help to MC-21 operators optimize their costs.”

Jeppesen FliteDeck Pro electronic flight bag services deliver dynamically rendered, data-driven presentation of enroute information and terminal procedures.  Operators are able to filter the display of preferred enroute information on-screen by selecting airports, airways, waypoints, airspace, NAVAIDs and terrain data.  The open framework of FliteDeck Pro is flexible and scalable, to allow for customized company data display or third-party applications.  Jeppesen FliteDeck Pro is available for commercial aviation operators through several delivery platforms, including tablet computing systems.

The MC-21 program by IRKUT Corporation will create new short to mid-range commercial aircraft for the Russian and international market.  The MC-21 model aircraft family is being developed to serve 150 to 212 passengers.  The flexibility of the MC-21 design concept is targeted for traditional, low-cost, hybrid and charter operators.  The MC-21 aircraft is designed with an efficient, aerodynamic airframe, composed of composite materials and includes new generation engines to ensure high performance levels.
