Navigation expert Jeppesen announced the availability of new high definition bathymetric charts for boaters operating in Mediterranean and Australian waters.
These new electronic charts provide boaters with unprecedented detail of sea floor relief, terrain and contour, delivering a realistic depiction of the underwater world. Purchased as a separate cartridge to supplement navigational charts, the high-res bathy charts can be used in the full range of popular NT+ compatible and MAX-compatible navigation systems, such certain models from Lorenz, Raymarine, Standard Horizon, Seiwa, and many others. The charts are also compatible with the new Geonav displays, which use Jeppesen’s latest C-MAP 4D cartography, and they are available with NT/PC and MAX/PC electronic charts for use with computer navigation software.
While not for primary navigation, the high level of bottom detail provided by these high-definition bathymetric charts makes them ideal for recreational and professional fishermen, scuba and skin divers. In every ocean of the world, forage and predatory gamefish are attracted to bottom features such as seamounts, ridges, canyons ledges and other bottom irregularities. This deep structure helps create upwellings, current breaks and temperature edges that congregate bait and gamefish. Now, with Jeppesen’s detailed and accurate high-resolution bathy charts offshore fishermen can spend less time and burn less fuel searching for fish and more time catching them. Plus, serious scuba divers will have an easier time finding great locations.
In addition to detailed bottom information, MAX high definition bathymetric charts also include coastline and land elevation detail, port/harbour charts, and dynamic tide/current predictions. While not intended for navigation, the high-resolution bathy charts work with Jeppesen’s exclusive Guardian Alarm anti-grounding technology, and they’re compatible with Jeppesen’s popular PC-Planner home-planning tool, making it easy for boaters to plan their offshore fishing trips and transfer saved plans right to their chartplotter using the optional memory card.
These affordable new charts are a must-have for serious offshore fisherman, divers and boaters. They are available in a variety of Wide chart titles, providing comprehensive coverage of the Mediterranean Sea as well as the fish-rich waters around Australia, New Zealand and key South Pacific Islands.
