Jeppesen Marine, the navigation experts in marine electronic chart technology, announced today plans to add more than 2,000 photos to its C-Map MAX electronic chart database.
“The addition of photos is just one example of our process to keep information updated,” said Michelle Buckalew, Jeppesen Marine senior marketing manager. “In addition to being interesting to look at, the photos enhance navigation for boaters by showing aerial views of shorelines, navigational landmarks, aids, hazards and even detailed marina dock layouts. The pictures are especially helpful when boaters are approaching an unfamiliar area or cruising at night.”
The new images will be available in Jeppesen Marine’s spring update, which releases in April. In addition to the expanded photo library, the spring release will contain tens of thousands of “Notice to Mariner” corrections, such as buoy changes, lane marker changes and many other data changes, making Jeppesen Marine charts the most up-to-date in the industry.
“Our goal is to continue enhancing navigation safety and convenience by offering the industry’s most complete range of value-added features in addition to accurate and detailed electronic charts,” said James Detar, director of Jeppesen Marine’s Light Marine division.
To receive all the updates included in the spring release, Jeppesen Marine customers with a C-Map card can purchase the latest release from their local marine dealer. Or, customers who belong to Club Jeppesen Marine will automatically receive an updated card.
