Jeppesen Marine today announced the release of its spring 2009 update for its electronic chart databases, containing the latest new chart editions, port plans and Notice to Mariners updates from official hydrographic office sources, as well as a host of new value-added additions, such as aerial photographs of harbors and marinas.

For the European and Mediterranean chart portfolios, the spring 2009 update includes more than 68,000 specific updates, including aids to navigation, hazards, channel markers and other critical data for safety of navigation. The new release also adds detailed charts covering 12 popular lakes and inland waterways in Scandinavia, United Kingdom and Western Europe, as well as expanded coverage of the North Sea and Baltic Sea. Jeppesen Marine has also added approximately 3,400 new aerial photographs for the Northern and Southern European regions. These photos provide a helpful tool for mariners when entering an unfamiliar harbor, providing a visual reference for navigation aids, landmarks, topographical features and even detailed layouts for marina berths.

“We strongly encourage mariners to update their cartographic database with the newest available electronic charts,” said Andrea Buralli, Jeppesen Marine European market manager. “Our new release captures hundreds of new chart editions and revisions from national hydrographic offices, and weekly Notices to Mariners containing thousands of updates to current editions.”

The spring 2009 cartography release is available for C-Map NT+ and MAX charts. For an annual subscription fee, Premium Members of Club Jeppesen Marine receive one update per year.
