Updated Charts Key to Navigational Safety, Getting Most Out of Compatible GPS/Chartplotters
Navigation expert Jeppesen Marine has made available the Fall 2009 Release of its popular C-MAP MAX electronic charts, providing boaters with thousands of Notice-to-Mariner corrections, expanded coverages and new chart features to enhance the navigational experience. Updates for navigational safety have also been made to Jeppesen Marine’s NT+ electronic chart database.
The typical chart title sees hundreds of changes in each new release. While some are minor, a new underwater obstacle, the shifting of a channel or relocation of a navaid can have a profound effect on navigators — especially if they’re caught unaware. It’s for this reason that Jeppesen Marine constantly updates its worldwide electronic chart database and makes this updated cartography available to boaters at least twice each year.
Jeppesen Marine’s Fall 2009 Release puts important new chart data and information in the hands of boaters. It features expanded coverage areas for key boating regions, including expansion of Northeast United States MAX chart NA-M026 to include all of the coast charts for Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut and the Long Island area of New York. Jeppesen Marine also expanded coverage of this chart to include the Hudson River in its entirety. The Fall 2009 Release of MAX chart NA-M024 features an extended southern border to include the region around Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. This is great news for power cruisers, sailors and offshore anglers in pursuit of the area’s world-class yellowfin tuna fishing. Additional coverage changes include expanding the northeastern section of MAX chart NA-M027 to include coverage of the Jacksonville, Florida area.
The Fall 2009 Release also gives MAX users an additional 1,380 quality photos of US, Canadian and Caribbean harbors, marinas and inlets, providing navigators with important visual references for safer navigation. In addition, Jeppesen Marine’s saltwater Fishing Contour Charts have been updated with 2009-2010 fishing regulations and records, making them an even more effective tool for serious inshore and offshore anglers nationwide.
Ocean-going boaters and fishermen aren’t the only ones who will benefit from key additions to the Fall 2009 Release of C-MAP MAX charts. Jeppesen Marine has added approximately 9,000 new lakes to its popular MAX Lakes charts for the United States. These specialized fishing charts provide tournament and recreational anglers with accurate shoreline and underwater contour data, along with a wealth of information and local knowledge that helps them find and catch more fish.
These updates, beneficial changes and electronic charting enhancements are available to all boaters who purchase new C-MAP MAX Fall 2009 chart editions, or who update their current C-MAP electronic chart titles through a variety of convenient and affordable methods. Members of Club Jeppesen Marine are eligible to receive one automatic chart update each year, along with a host of additional savings, benefits and programs, for low annual dues that are less than the cost of one update.
