Why Does Your Military Need an EFB?
Militaries are deploying EFB technology to manage the vast amount of data now arriving in the cockpit. The data pilots are receiving in the cockpit consists of navigation charts, operations manuals, military moving maps, air-refueling planning, text messages, tactical mission data, camera and sensor video, aircraft health information, payload information, text documents, and file transfers.
Deploy EFB technology to gain enhanced situational awareness and enhanced safety. Using Airport Moving Map (AMM), pilots can use the industry's only operationally approved moving map offering taxi position awareness in the airport ground environment. Military Moving Map (MMM) is a comprehensive enroute moving map application for enhancement of situational awareness during mission execution.
With the use of the Jeppesen Military EFB, aircrews and operators are moving past yesterday's paper driven process, and into a network centric electronic information system to operate effectively in today's complicated military aviation environment.
Many operators are deploying EFB solutions during ongoing cockpit and avionics upgrades. When considering the cost of making modifications to avionics, installing a removable EFB to the side of the cockpit or on the yoke, in positions where pilots already view and store their flight publications, may be very cost effective. It also provides an exceptional platform for enhancing flight deck capabilities in the future.
